15 Oct

afternoon, friends.

quick review on the week as i am so glad the weekend is here.

what an awesome weekend it is!

this week we launched 24 more bloggers in chevy traverses’ in houston, texas.  that’s 59 pretty popular bloggers in some pretty cool cars.  on top of that, i have a partnership with SCVNGR that is a very hot mobile company out of boston.  we’re launching the chevy sonic adventure in 27 markets across the country.  it’s like a local “amazing race” type of deal where someone wins a brand new chevy sonic after 2 hours of racing around the city answering questions on their mobile phone. we’ll be in dallas, ft. worth and houston in texas in november.  we’ll also be in cities all over the country. it has been one of those wheels off kind of weeks.  didn’t know which way i was coming or going.  my sister also trained dealers in norfolk, va on social media which turned out to be a success.  you know what?  i love what i do.  i love being given the freedom to change what “experiential” means to brands and consumers.

didn’t like not being able to blog though.

being creative for business and being creative for fun are two different things.  so i’m going to change things up a little bit on my blog.  expect some fun to start happening right here. oh yea.

if you want to check out some of the stuff that we do, check out the buzz that happened in dallas/ft worth after we put ladies in their new cars… here is what some wrote on their blogs…

so appreciate this week.

got to see a lot of people i haven’t seen in a long time!

First, the geiger’s from wisconsin had a layover in dallas for a couple of hours, so we took them to blue goose and javiers for dinner.  so glad to see them – it has been since the wedding!

then i went to orange county for a meeting and could stay overnight and visit with my cousins britt & kirsten at kirstens house.  so much fun!

happy cool saturday in big d.

crazy week for us all, eh?  my week started with a day off as ROF and i headed back from a great anniversary mini trip to san antonio.

i cancelled a trip to LA i had planned because work at hand required me staying put.

got together with bestest megen for delivery to me a very humorous anniversary gift and good talks and laughs at my fave times ten cellars.

couldn’t snap pics of our agency 720 dinner on thursday night at via real with our ceo, harold, who was in town.  it was so great to be with lindsey, jackie, angie (HOLLA!)  and folks as us “social” folks are isolated downtown away from the crew. (boo hoo)

last night, we got to visit with paul, kelly & their adorable lil sophia.  also tod, betsy and their 5 month old lilly who is as sweet as she is beautiful.  we went to mia’s on lemmon.

how was your week?

mine was very hectic crazy but all good!  highlights (without boring the heck out of you!) was i traveled to rochester, ny to be a guest speaker at a chevy dealer meeting regarding a program i’m doing in 27 markets.  the cool thing here was 1. never been to rochester, ny and 2. this is a client we don’t have so i met at a competitor’s agency and presented to clients we don’t have.  it was exciting. and the weather was awe-some.  nice and cold and rainy which is a nice break from texas 100+ degrees.  also went to a fantastic dinner party last night with some unbelievable food. this morning, rof and i went to church and we spoke on a panel of married people as the “newly married couple.”  this is where 8 other couples going through a pre-marriage class had the sheer joy to hear from us and also a couple that had been married 48 years and a couple with kids.   here are some pic’s:

wow.

this week was awesome.  i’m so appreciative of so many things.  it was labor day weekend and we had monday off and lots of stuff going on.  good friends, parties, birthdays (D turned 40!), seeing friends haven’t seen in a while.  but then it was back to work.

thankfully, i love my job (for real) and this week it took me to beautiful savannah, georgia.  although i did fly in a little early, i worked in my hotel room until dinner and then i got to walk the streets of this beautiful town. the chevy dealers and i got to talk social media the next morning (which is one of my favorite subjects!) this was the second time i got to spend time with them.  super nice.

lastly, ROF had to get his monthly injection in his left eye on friday morning.  seriously, is that not the WORST place ever to get a shot?  i needed to drive him home because he can’t see after that and is in a lot of pain.  thankfully we love his doctor who gave us the good news that there is no bleeding or fluid in his good eye and he can wait 6 weeks instead of 4 for another shot.  we decided that after each shot, once he rested, we’d go to our favorite restaurant, cane russo for dinner.  something to look forward.  so very very good.

here are some pics:

this was the best dinner i had in savannah ever!!

no traveling this week but lots of work.  it started out last sunday with a breakfast fit for a king for ROF (my king) and moved on to monday and lunch with good friends and fantastic business associates (@jeaniehornung and the marvelous alex harland) @ rise no.1.  the sweetest slice of paris in dallas.  (notice a theme here)

week in review

since this blog is more about me appreciating things,  i’ve decided i’m going to start a week in review in pictures on saturdays.

you know why?

because i appreciate being alive.  not kidding.  on my flight home from boston, i bought a magazine (SHOCKER) and it was a september issue showcasing people who lost a loved one on 9/11.  it asked them what they do on that particular day to remember.  now when i was reading this, I was scrunched, i mean scrunched, in the middle seat flying from boston to st. louis – why? – well that is another story.

anyway, i was trying hard not to full-on blubber reading these stories.  tears running down my face, there was a bit of a choked back sob that came out more like a soft snort.

it was really touching and reading it just made my heart ache for those people.  one story was a daughter remembering her 79 year old mom who was very much a vibrant lady with a great sense of humor.  her mom was going to come and live  with her and her family and moving day was 9/11.  her mom was flying.  you get the picture.  and you probably know similar stories.  so we have to remember. and appreciate every little moment.  so here is my first week in review.

i hope you’re having a great weekend.

i saw this quote and loved it. my team is awesome. we created this really fun dinner bag for a friend where we all made dinner and packaged it up real cute.

was in boston this week and had to have a lawbstah roll and captured this pink coffee cup

i call this sleeping pearls. this sweet lady was so dainty until she fell asleep and let out noise like a fog horn.

this was the chandelier in the hallway of the omni parker hotel in boston

we held an impromtu focus group at TMG this week with 10 gen y'ers to see if we are on the right track. we are!

super funny. when i "checked in" on foursquare, there was one person already checked. i opened the picture and this was who had checked in. EEK!

really exciting to be at a young start-up like scvngr. what energy and drive. really pumped some life into me - very exciting. i refuse to get old.
