I’m Back.

13 Jan

Hi. I’m Amy. I used to be “the appreciator” but now I’m writing as part of the “Joy Seekers Collective.” But really, I’m Amy.

I’m going to be very vulnerable and bold and tell you things I wouldn’t normally tell you. This is “Marketer” Amy speaking/thinking. You’ll see why in a minute.

So to start off this new year, new decade and new blog/IG adventure, I’m going to set the stage. I’m 50. Sheez, that is so hard to say. For my whole life I’ve been young – ha. Overnight I turned … 50! But I have to say that I’m not going to hate it. In fact, I think I’m going to love it. You know why? Two reasons.

One = I know stuff. I really do. To me, there is nothing better than someone that has learned the hard way. People that have learned the hard way have had to have lived – right? So most likely they are older. Yea, older folks many not be able to talk to you about the latest developments in AI (I could) but they sure could help you navigate the waters of managing people. How to handle sticky situations with your boss. How to become a successful entrepreneur. I hate that I didn’t tap into that as much as I could have in my 20’s and 30’s. But I did really have some excellent bosses through the years that mentored and cared for me.

way too close selfie. after snowmobiling. sans hair straightener and botox for the smile lines. oh well.

What I’ve learned is priceless. I’m a woman who made her career a priority throughout the past three decades. A career for a woman that was the only one in her family to graduate from a four-year college. A career where many, many times I was leading the ad meeting in a room filled with men. Car dealers, no less. Someone to whom the #metoo movement made sense 100%.

Second = forgetting about what others think. This hasn’t completely become clear to me yet as I am only 2 weeks into my 5th decade, but I’m excited to not really care what other people think. Judge me all you want but I bet you know what I’m talking about. Too much time in life is spent worrying about what other people think – when here is a fact – YOU HAVE NO CLUE WHAT THEY THINK! So, it is basically a completely mindless act of futility!

Stay tuned for great stuff from this blog and IG account!
